A Hunt for Coral

Last night while flipping through the new West Elm catalog I came upon some photos of a dark bookcase showing off white coral and loved the look. I know that aside from it being endangered and environmentally irresponsible to farm, it’s wildly expensive. I wondered how hard it’d be to source the fake stuff. Of course today while perusing trusty Crate & Barrel I came across these specimens of cast coral made out of polyresin. Beautiful!

Cast Coral, $44.95 each.

I love the look of white coral as well but had concerns regarding its environmental status – I was able to find an enormous piece for my mantel at Z Gallerie for about $35!
