Saibu

Sayuri sent me a lovely email tipping me off about her lovely cards at Saibu. The cards feature a woven label that is affixed to a patterned vellum belly band that wrap around the card. So simple, chic and elegant. The patterns are quite lovely as well.

Rings, $21.99 for a box of 8.

A Year in Japan

Russell over at Princeton Architectural Press introduced me to a few books last week that I had to share… the first (and my favorite) is Kate T Williamson’s A Year in Japan, which is Kate’s journal and sketchbook from the year she spent studying in Kyoto. I cannot even begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this book. Fantastic illustrations (Kate is an illustrator by profession) and lovely handwritten notes on her observations such as the sparkly ladies of Japan and tofu vendors on the street. A must see.

Michael Kors Spring 2007

Loved the Michael Kors show and am beginning to realize that I love dresses because I never pick pantsuits as part of my favorites. Anyhow, I also think I enjoyed his collection so much because it was largely in neutrals and blacks… those colors comprising about 98% of my wardwobe. (I was feeling a bit déja vu about that first look… remind anyone of Michael Knight’s outfit in the last episode of Project Runway?)

Monique Lhuillier Spring 2007

More streamlined elegance from Monique Lhuillier. Very sleek, very chic. Love all the gold tones and draped fabric.

Luca Luca Spring 2007

Ohhhh, gorgeous clothes at Luca Luca. I don’t really know what to say other than that.

Jeffrey Fulvimari for Verlaine

Reader Anna just sent me a tip that famed fashion illustration Jefrey Fulvimari (Of Madonna’s The English Roses fame) has created an original illustration for fashion house Verlaine’s show at New York Fashion Week. From the release: “The Bryant Park show featured Jeffrey’s art both on the walls and in the designs - Verlaine was inspired to capture Jeffrey’s signature
darling girls as a bold print fabric, out of which she constructed three fabulous dresses in different cuts for her spring/summer 2007 collection.” Anna was kind enough to send me images of some of the garments and the store display. Now on the hunt for photos of the show, which was held Monday at Bryant Park. Enjoy.

Oscar de la Renta Spring 2007

Lovely lacey stuff from Oscar de la Renta. The long white dress would be a beautiful wedding dress.

Carolina Herrera Spring 2007

Carolina Herrera’s Spring 2007 Collection was lovely and simply designed, in true Herrera fashion. Loved as always. Full collection here.

Yigal Azrouël Spring 2007

Ahh Fashion Week has begun! I loved Yigal Azrouël’s show for the last Fashion Week and was so delighted that he didn’t disappoint this time around. Fantastic silhouettes (love that he kept proportions so consistent.) and I love how everything is draped. Great mini dresses and I LOVE that cropped coat/minidress combination. See my post for his show for Fall 2006 here.

India Fashion Week

I know, I know, I’ve been seriously neglecting this… work has been utterly crazy this month. But, anticipate more posts in the upcoming week as Olympus Fashion Week begins in New York. I currently am thoroughly enjoying Ms. Spinach’s coverage of the recent India Fashion Week. So hard to get great photos of those shows here and she has done us all a great service by snapping some fab pics of great stuff she saw coming down the runway. Part One is currently up, I look forward to the rest. Have a great weekend!

Judy Geib

LOVE the jewelry available at Barney’s from Judy Geib… delicate and sculptural in gold. Totally beautiful.

Malini Murjani

Malini Murjani’s handbags are quite beautiful. The ones at ShopBop are simply designed with soft leather and chain handles. Malini Murjani also has designed some bags featuring unlikely materials such as agate and unusual finishes on the leather as seen on her official website. Very pretty accessories.

Tora shoulderbag, $656. Lisa tote, $690.
