Yummy Typography

Just got back from taking a very interesting tour through Manhattan of great examples of historical typography. I took some photos, something I really mean to do more of. (and I got a spankin’ new Flickr Pro account to get myself moving.) The photos are here… just wanted to share them. Have a lovely weekend.

“Thank You For Smoking” Opening Credits

The opening title sequence for the movie, Thank You For Smoking is so wonderful with graphics reminiscent of vintage cigarette packaging. Each introduction gets it’s own “brand” and the typography is so beautiful. For more type nerdiness, check out this post on Typographica where each typeface in the opener is credited. I can’t wait to see this movie.

Lovely lovely work. The typography is so beautiful.

Vangool Design + Typography

Vangool exhibits some quite lovely typographic work, especially in their book design.

WTF?

Ligatures aplenty.

Thinking With Type

Thinking With Type is an incredibly thorough typographic reference as a companion to the book, by Ellen Lupton, which can be bought here.
