In 2004 there was a major summer installation of Chihuly’s work at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. His pieces worked especially well incorporated into the outdoor spaces — ponds, trees etc. — and the Garden offered special extended evening hours so visitors could see the glass works lit at night. The exhibition was such a huge success that it was held over into the fall.
Hope you enjoy the exhibit in NY!
June 19th, 2006I saw the Chihuly exhibit that was held in Chicago at the Garfield Park Conservatory back in 2002. It was nothing short of amazing. The overall effect of showing the glass sculptures amidst the flora and fauna was breathtaking. I hope to be able to see his work again.
June 19th, 2006The Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha commissioned a work from Chihuly a few years ago ââ¬â the result is a stunning bulbous glass structure that greets visitors in the atrium of the museum ââ¬â simply gorgeous ââ¬â my two-year-old daughter is as awe struck by it as I am every time we visit! Enjoy – his work is amazing…
June 20th, 2006i saw the show in chicago too and it really was marvelous! i’ll have to make it out the ny botanical garden for this one.
i’ve also seen his ceiling covered in flowers in the bellagio hotel in las vegas, which was just amazing.
June 20th, 2006I had the pleasure of seeing Chihuly’s exhibition at the V&A in London a while ago, there’s still a beautiful green and blue chandelier there…the colour and form of his work was just breathtaking!
June 21st, 2006Thank you for the heads up. I will absolutely not miss this. Here’s a Chihuly I have from the ceiling of the Bellagio in Las Vegas. It’s brilliant.
