A Hunt for Coral

Last night while flipping through the new West Elm catalog I came upon some photos of a dark bookcase showing off white coral and loved the look. I know that aside from it being endangered and environmentally irresponsible to farm, it’s wildly expensive. I wondered how hard it’d be to source the fake stuff. Of course today while perusing trusty Crate & Barrel I came across these specimens of cast coral made out of polyresin. Beautiful!

Cast Coral, $44.95 each.

Let There Be Light!

I’m sick of my touchlights in a constant state of droopiness and dimness. Sylvania’s Dot It lights are an attractive update to the touchlights we all seem to have in our closets and under cabinets. These lights turn on with a press to the center, are super bright thanks to the strong LEDs, run on AAA batteries and last for 100 hours. The lights come backed with 3M adhesive that’s reusable so you can stick them to virtually anything. They’re available in many colors and you can buy them right here on Amazon.

Bright touch lights! $10 for one or a 3-pack for $27 on Amazon.com.

Magnolias Linens

Fantastic linens by a trio of desi women. Magnolias Linens began when Asema Asghar was planning her own wedding and was discouraged by linen selection. She asked her mother, who knew craftspeople in India, to help. After her wedding, Asema along with her mother and sister began Magnolias Linens. By working with talented seamstresses in India, the trio designs and produces linens, napkins, napkin rings and chair covers in gorgeous textures with fine work and patterns either as rentals or custom-made for your wedding.

In deep blue, these linens are designed and produced by Magnolias Linens.

Hold Everything… RIP

Hold Everything is closing the doors of all its stores at the end of this month, according to the salespeople in the 68th Street Hold Everything location last weekend. After that, the sale moves online. Selection is already wearing thin. I bought a jewelry box (in white) last weekend and love it to death. Very classic.

You Light Up My Life

The products at CB2 are simply phenomenal. Take these lanterns, for instance. Battery-operated so that there’s no messing with cords and electrical outlets and priced low so hanging in lots of multiples is a snap. Perfect for rooftop decks and patios or anywhere else, for that matter.

Metro Goes Zoom Zoom

Target‘s new bedding, the Metro Collection is a collection of fabrics and patterns in black and white. Right up my alley. 🙂 I do wish the Metro Matelasse Coverlet and Sham Set were sold seperately. I love those shams.

Metro Pillow, $24.99 and Metro Coverlet and Sham, $99-109.
