A Year in Japan
Russell over at Princeton Architectural Press introduced me to a few books last week that I had to share… the first (and my favorite) is Kate T Williamson’s A Year in Japan, which is Kate’s journal and sketchbook from the year she spent studying in Kyoto. I cannot even begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this book. Fantastic illustrations (Kate is an illustrator by profession) and lovely handwritten notes on her observations such as the sparkly ladies of Japan and tofu vendors on the street. A must see.

how funny — i just got this book recently and was planning on posting some pictures from it later in the week in anticipation of my upcoming japan trip.
really, it’s such a wonderful book. if only i could draw! (something other than daisies and balloons and my name in bubble letters, i mean.)
September 19th, 2006greetings,
I just discovered your lovely, lovely blog and if you have a minute I’d be thrilled to have you submit it to our newish blog directory, delightfulblogs.com. I think the gals who use the directory to find new blogs to explore would flip for your writing and designs.

I just got his book a month or two ago as well…and so loved the illustrations! I was expecting a bit more on the text front, so was slightly disapointed when I realised it wasn’t going to be a big read…{just thirsty for knowledge on Japan really!}…but the lovely drawings do make up for that. Glad you liked it too 🙂
