The Pirelli tire company’s famous calendar is out now for 2008. Shot by Patrick Demarchelier in Shanghai, it features models such as Gemma Ward, Coco Rocha, Catherine McNeil, Doutzen Kroes and Du Juan.
The website itself is lovely to peruse… see all the calendars shot by legends such as Herb Ritts, Richard Avedon, Peter Lindbergh and Annie Leibovitz. Wish I knew more Italian.

Psst. The Loeffler Randall accessories line for Target is up early on the website! Go! (And it’s all free shipping!)
Happy Holidays!

Natasha Law’s book came into the office and I totally loved looking through pages and pages of her fab line drawings. See more of her work at her rep, Breed London. (Breed also reps another of my favorite illustrators, Si Scott.

I went through AIGA’s Year in Design for 2007 yesterday… my favorite category by far was the Book Design category. Over a hundred books are shown here, among them the above two covers.
I absolutely loved the cover for Dead Man’s Float. The book description is as follows: “The main character has suffered a stroke and is relegated to a hospital bed where he floats in a pool of his tragic memories.”
See all the entries in the AIGA Design Archive.
Two books included in the selection.

Saw these on Something Old, Something New and totally fell in love. From Nervous System: “Each piece of this series is a unique, one of a kind composition born from the intersection of rapid prototyping and pattern generating algorithms. Tiny circles of varying sizes are aggregated into complex configurations that mimic the natural forms of corals and seaweeds.”
I love delicate yet graphic jewelry… especially in gold. I also especially love the fact that anyone can play with the software that generates these designs and order a one-of-a-kind piece. So sweet!
Coral Series, $65. Half Moon Series, $65. Both are also available in stainless steel.

I loved the shoot with Natalie Portman in this week’s T:Style Magazine. (As my co-worker Thomas says, “It’s impossible to take a horrible picture of the girl.” And I concur.)
I also am loving the new website for the T:Style Magazine… it’s so much fun to go through the articles and see all the photography. (And also better work-wise as this gives advertisers an amazing platform for advertising!) The new blog is also great… I can’t wait to see more content. See the new T:Style Magazine website at nytimes.com/tmagazine.

Loved the new photography up at Zara just in time for holiday shopping. I especially loved the Women’s book, filled with lovely rusty industrial spaces. Very striking.

Loved these gorgeous typographic posters from Ork. Designed by Jenny Beorkrem, they are affordable, large and simple… they definitely make a statement. Cities currently available are Chicago and Brooklyn. The Manhattan poster is coming out soon as is one for Boston. (via AT: Chicago)
Brooklyn poster, 18" x 24", $25. Manhattan poster, 16" x 36", coming soon! Posters printed with soy ink on recycled paper.

Artstream Studios introduced their new exhibition to me earlier this week. Six artists have created work based on the idea, “Mapping The Way.” The work is all on paper and will be for sale after the opening reception tomorrow, Friday, November 2 on the Artstream online store.
The prices are extremely affordable with work starting at $40. The artists in this show are Heather Smith Jones, Anna Corpron & Sean Auyeung, Edibeth Farrington, Susan Schwake and Stephanie Levy.
The work above is done by Anna Corpron & Sean Auyeung (of Sub-studio). Celestial Extinction 2 and Celestial Extinction.

Joy’s Nantaka Joy e-commerce site is now live and it’s so gorgeous. Love the product photography and, of course, the products themselves! So far on my wishlist? The I Love… Notebook and the Metallic Card Sampler. Congrats, Joy!
(Foreground) I Love... Platinum Notebook, $12.75. (Background) I Love... Copper Notebook, $12.75.

Thought these would make such a great chandelier for a party. Each balloon is lit by a small LED light (which I suppose don’t get as hot as conventional lights.) and is powered by small batteries which last up to 100 hours. I love the clustered organic look of these.
Kit for one balloon, $30.
