James Welling

Attended the Biennial at the Whitney last night and saw a few artists that I absolutely loved. The first of which is James Welling. We actually had his book in the office a few months ago. His Torso series is exhibited in the Biennial but I knew him from the flower series seen above. Gorgeous color, love the graphic composition.
#005, C-print mounted to plexi, 4th edition of 5. #003, C-print mounted to plexi, 4th edition of 5. Both works available at David Zwirner.
Rodney Smith

Something would be seriously remiss if I didn’t mention the work of photographer Rodney Smith. Lately, I’ve seen it popping up all over the place. This work is some of the best I’ve seen in a very long time.
Take care to go through the archives and view his prints for sale. I’m currently coveting this one.
Selections from Rodney Smith.
New Lithographs from Antigirl

My girl Tiphanie Brooke has just released two new limited edition lithographs. These are 18 x 24 and are the largest in size she’s ever released. Printed on Eames Canvas paper, these totally look amazing. The finish of the paper is perfectly suited for her collage style. I’ve used this paper before and I can tell you the effect is gorgeous.
The edition is of 125 and the prints are printed full-bleed, and are hand-signed and numbered with the Antigirl logo embossed in the top left corner. Visit Antigirl.com to order.
Bleed Deeply #2, edition of 125, $45.
Mapping The Way

Artstream Studios introduced their new exhibition to me earlier this week. Six artists have created work based on the idea, “Mapping The Way.” The work is all on paper and will be for sale after the opening reception tomorrow, Friday, November 2 on the Artstream online store.
The prices are extremely affordable with work starting at $40. The artists in this show are Heather Smith Jones, Anna Corpron & Sean Auyeung, Edibeth Farrington, Susan Schwake and Stephanie Levy.
The work above is done by Anna Corpron & Sean Auyeung (of Sub-studio). Celestial Extinction 2 and Celestial Extinction.
Antigirl’s Bleed Deeply

Tiphanie Brooke of Antigirl emailed me with the wonderful news that she has completed her latest collection of collage. This collection, titled Bleed Deeply, features ton of vibrant color. Like her work before, I remain totally in love.
Prints and limited-edition lithographs of her previous collections as well as her line of handmade books are available for sale on her site.

H.Craig Hanna

My coworker Aeon introduced me to the work of H.Craig Hanna who is an amazing painter. I love the way his paintings are composed, tons of negative space and interesting texture and pattern.

Tim Walker

My boss showed me the Fotographie issue for fashion photographer Tim Walker and I immediately fell in love with his work. Glam, decay, fantasy, impressive lighting… it’s all there. See more of his work here.
Work from his portfolio.
Lumas

Strolling through ICFF last weekend, I have to confess that not much really impressed me. The display from Lumas, however, stopped me in my tracks. Just what I was looking for: affordable photography produced in limited editions.
Each signed and numbered photograph is a part of a limited edition and the photographers range from new talent on the scene, masters, classics and scientific photography. The gallery also offers some photos in open editions which are more affordable than the limited editions.
The photos can also be bought as is or framed and mounted. Firsthand, those options looked to be very well done. Also, the sizes of the prints offered provide a big impact… sizes range from approximately two feet square and larger.
The prints are absolutely stunning in person. I am loving this concept. Lumas has a brick and mortar gallery in Soho in New York that I’ll be sure to check out.
(I’ll be going over the rest of my ICFF picks later this week.)
Drift, David Burdeny. Edition of 150. $380.
Alena Hennessy’s Little Gathering

Got a sweet email from Alena Hennessy regarding her upcoming show this weekend in a tearoom boutique called Bouteaque, New York’s Lower East Side. Her work, called “A Little Gathering” looks absolutely amazing. I am planning on checking it out just to see it all in person. The show will be on display from May 5 to June 30, the reception is from 3-7pm on Saturday. Bouteaque is located at 226 East Third Street, between Avenue B and C.
Midday in the Pine, $40. Little Gathering, $30.
Kim Beury

I was fortunate to able to snag the above print from artist Kim Beury’s Tiny Showcase submission and wanted to share her work with you all. Her website shows more of her stuff… loved all the cityscapes (and I was happy to get the print of the Silvercup Studios sign in Long Island City… I pass that every morning on my way to work.) and use of color.
Silvercup, limited edition of 100. Sold out.
Reed Danziger @ Julie Baker Fine Art

Saw Grace’s post about the amazing Julie Baker Fine Art and had to post Reed Danziger’s work as soon as I saw it. How gorgeous are these? Incredibly layered in graphite and paint, pattern over pattern. Absolutely loved.
Untitled 502, watercolor, oil paint, graphite, ink, pigment, shellac, on paper. Contact the gallery to purchase. Untitled 101, sold.
