Marc Jacobs Spring 2008

I’ve been getting so caught up with work that I haven’t been paying much attention to this year’s shows… last night, however my good friends Jules & Joe invited me to accompany them to the Marc Jacobs show at the Armory. Joe actually was part of the team who designed and built the set so it was especially special for my first time at a show.

It was all so theatrical… and surreal. (Heath Ledger, Michael Stipe and Helena Christensen conversing in a huddle next to us… Courtney Love smoking in the front row. Ahh! Worlds colliding!) And everything ran in reverse. Models first walked down the runway for their “finale” followed by Marc Jacobs himself. The show began with evening dresses, models entered through a wooden frame while a projected film showed that same model walking down the runway in her underwear and accessories.

The concept made sense… lots of the pieces were very sheer. The effect was like you were watching with x-ray vision. The hair was done up bouffant-style, the accessories, especially the bags, were the most drool worthy.

For now, the photos above are my favorites from the show… I’ll have my own (very amateur) photos and some random video later today up here.

Edit: See some photos on my Flickr stream. (To be updated with even more later…) View a short video on my Vimeo of the show.
